  • The Universidad Francisco de Vitoria received the ILA 2023 Listener of the Year Award from the International Listening Association for its Active Listening Centre. 

The work of the Active Listening Centre of the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (UFV) has been honoured with the ILA 2023 International Listening Association (ILA) Listener of the Year Award. This distinction has been unveiled during the 44th annual convention of the ILA, held in Mainz, Germany, and represents a global recognition of UFV’s outstanding efforts in the field of active listening.

  • INTERNATIONAL DAY OF LISTENING 2022: LISTEN TO HEAL

On Thursday, September 15, the International Listening Association (ILA) celebrates the International Day of Listening. A space to learn about listening from researchers and professionals from around the world. This year, the focus will be on what and how listening can contribute to healing: can listening be part of the medicine that can offer relief for us and those around us?

  • SILENCE AND LISTENING TO ONESELF WITH JANE ADSHEAD-GRANT

We share a podcast in which Jane Adshead-Grant talks about the challenge of listening to ourselves.

Jane points out that “to be a great listener, we first have to know what it feels like to be heard, really heard, free of interruptions, judgments and distractions.”

  • KEYS TO PROMOTE ACTIVE LISTENING AND CAPTURE THE ATTENTION OF YOUR CHILDREN

El Confidencial published last November 02, 2021 an article explaining some keys to practice empathic listening to our children.

Day to day life with our children involves putting listening into practice, and doing it actively can help to strengthen bonds and generate a deeper climate of trust.

  • 43RD LISTENING CONFERENCE

On June 3 and 4 of this year, the International Listening Association (ILA) will organize the 43rd edition of its Listening Convention. It will again be held virtually due to current circumstances.

This year, the theme will revolve around listening in times of change, and will bring together practitioners and researchers from around the world to share their experiences with listening.

  • ARTICLE PUBLISHED IN THE MAGAZINE S-MODA (EL PAÍS)

The Active Listening Centre (Learnability) has collaborated in the article published in the magazine S-Moda (El País), “Cuando hablar nos gusta más que escuchar: cómo practicar la escucha activa” (When we like talking more than listening: how to practice active listening). Consuelo Valbuena, director of CEA, analyzes the impact of listening on the human being, and reflects on the importance of listening in various fields (education, business and daily life), emphasizing the excess of noise and the need to make space to listen, starting with ourselves.

  • PILOT QUESTIONNAIRE FOR TRANSFORMATION LISTENING

On Tuesday, May 25, the Active Listening Centre launched its pilot Questionnaire for Transformational Listening to the Community of the Vice-Rectorate for Quality and Organisational Transformation. This tool will help us to know ourselves better in terms of listening, providing feedback and feedforward on how we listen.

  • GYMKHANA COMPETITION OF THE CENTRE FOR ACTIVE LISTENING (LEARNABILITY): A PRIZE IN HONOUR OF ITS THIRD ANNIVERSARY

As you know, the Centre for Active Listening is celebrating its third anniversary! As we have announced, in thanks for all your support and to celebrate the path we have travelled together, we are launching our Gymkhana Competition through Instagram. We hope you enjoy it!

Competition rules:

The aim of the competition is to pass a series of tests and scoreas many points as possible.

The rules of the competition are provided below. Read them carefully!

Who can participate in the competition?

Students registered in the 2020/2021 academic year in Advanced Vocational Education, Degree, Master’s or Doctoral programs at the UFV.

University personnel in Administration and Services and Faculty (except member of the jury).

Date of the tests: April 20 and 27; May 4.

Communication channel: Instagram Stories.

How to participate: The Instagram account @ufvmadridwill post a Story on each of the dates indicated. The Story will have an image related to Listening as a transformative element of the human individual and a famous phrase also related to listening.

Clicking on each Story will take you to a webpage that you must complete a test (answer a question, solve a riddle, etc). If you are the first one to answer correctly you receive 100 points; if you are the second to answer correctly, 99 points, and so on until participant number 101 receives 0 points. The rest of the participants will also receive 0 points. The game is to accumulate as many points as possible in the three tests.

The first 10 people to complete the three tests successfully and with the highest number of points will receive a special prize from the CAL, three items of the UFV  closely related to listening.

Where can I collect my prize? C If you are one of the lucky winners you can collect your prize at the Attic of Module 5 (the table in front of Office 2).

  • 42ND CONGRESS OF THE INTERNATIONAL LISTENING ASSOCIATION

From March 18th, 2021, to March 20th, 2021, in addition to other dates of the year (April 10th, 17th and 24th; May 1st, 8th, 15th and 22th; June 5th), the International Listening Association (ILA) will organize its Listening Convention, virtually due to the current circumstances. In this event, professionals from various countries around the world will talk about their knowledge and experiences in relation to listening as a fundamental element of people, organizations and society, especially in the current times we are facing.

The second edition of EnlightED was held in early October in Madrid, a global conference bringing together renowned experts in education, technology and innovation to foster a substantive debate on Education in the digital age.   • IV INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ON ORGANISATIONAL CHANGE MANAGEMENT

On November 27th 2018, our director Consuelo Valbuena participated in the IV International Congress on Organisational Change Management held in Madrid.   • NATIONAL MEETING OF BALINT GROUPS

On October 26th, 2018, we travelled to Oporto, Portugal, to participate in the National Meeting of Balint Groups, organised by the Portuguese Balint Association. The conference gathered together healthcare professionals (family physicians, psychologists and nurses) to experience the Balint Society methodology. This educational and experiential activity is an opportunity for reflection, based  on real cases, on the patient-clinician relationship.
