This course is offered three times a year: June, September and January

International students have the opportunity to improve their level of Spanish before their studies for the term start, or during the summer. In addition to language, students ill look at different aspects of Spanish culture, visiting and getting to know interesting spots and areas in and near the city of Madrid.

The course is divided into two modules:

    • Language and communication  
    • Spanish culture and civilisation. In the culture and civilisation module, students study the following:
      • Literature of the Spanish Golden Age (“Siglo de Oro”)
      • Multiculturalism in Spain
      • Contemporary Spain
      • Spanish artistic expression in its context
      • Overview of Spain in the context of the European Union

    As part of the course, students participate in four cultural activities which include guided visits to museums and other places of cultural interest in Madrid. Examples of visits:

    •  Guided visit to Madrid de los Austrias
    •  The Prado Museum
    •  Reina Sofía Cultural Centre
    •  Royal Palace
