VEC and Gary Lewis visit Argentina and Chile
At the beginning of this month, VEC had the honor of welcoming Gary Lewis, Chair of the ACE (Association for Character Education) and Senior Honorary Researcher and Director of External Affairs at the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtue, during their visit to Argentina and Chile.
During this time, Gary visited several schools that are part of the VEC’s program “Teachers in Focus Program: Integrating Character Education into Educational Practice”. These schools are in the process of applying for the ACE Quality Mark. If they achieve this certification, they would be the first institutions in Latin America to obtain it. He met with directors, families, teachers, and students, where he emphasized the importance of incorporating character education into school culture, not as an addition, but as a fundamental element in educational practice. His visit renewed the schools’ commitment to becoming character institutions.
Additionally, he gave open lecture at Colegio Everest, addressing directors, parents and educators about the keys to fostering a culture and ethos that supports the character development of students, encompassing every aspect of relationships, routines, and planning. He highlighted the crucial role of the connection between schools and families in this process.
We deeply thank Gary Lewis for his invaluable visit, which undoubtedly proved to be an enriching experience for all.
