RECORD PARTICIPATION IN THE 13TH EDITION OF TIDE

Record number of registrations. A total of 65 educational centers will participate in the 13th edition of TIDE.

More than 300 students in their fourth year of secondary school and first year of high school are participating in the new edition of TIDE. A total of 65 public, private, and charter schools from across the Community of Madrid will gather on our campus on April 17.

Until then, students and teachers will participate in a series of events designed to facilitate training: from visits to the campus to learn first-hand about the debate format from university students, to municipal training sessions where they will analyze the question and the preparation phases together, to voting on the question. In the last week of January, they will vote on the topic to be debated on this occasion.

For the second consecutive year, the National Pre-University Debate Championship has chosen our tournament as the selection center for the Community of Madrid. This means that the team that wins TIDE will represent Madrid in the National Championship to be held in June.

On the other hand, the Osservatorio for Independent Thinking is once again backing us for our work and training in the field of communication, argumentation, and logic skills. This observatory, present in most European countries, provides us with a tool (Doubt and Debate) completely free of charge, which seeks to improve students’ digital, media, and social literacy.
Every week, reports and press summaries from the main European newspapers are updated, and different approaches are used to help students learn to see things from different perspectives.

Along with the application, the Observatory awards four scholarships to the most outstanding students to attend the event they are organizing with other European students in Florence between April and May.
