Biomedical engineering is an interdisciplinary field capable of identifying and understanding needs in the healthcare sector. It integrates engineering tools to design, develop, integrate, validate, and implement technological, management, and process solutions in the healthcare field.
At UFV, you’ll learn through a practical, applied approach: you’ll design and manufacture medical and healthcare devices, instrumentation, and biosensors; process medical signals and images using artificial intelligence; and characterize biomaterials in engineering laboratories. You’ll acquire all these skills through a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, electronics, circuit theory and control, programming, and mechanics—all applied to a particularly demanding system: the human body.
You'll take your prototypes into a real-world clinical setting, where they'll be truly validated, and you'll be able to earn the Diploma in Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Technology Transfer to turn them into certifiable products.
