What is taught in the Primary Education program at the Bachelor's Degree ?

You will learn how to teach and support learning for children ages 6 to 12. Our curriculum combines psychology, pedagogy, inclusive education, and social skills with instruction in language arts, math, science, art, and physical education.

What is the difference between elementary school and preschool?

Elementary Education focuses on teaching the subject areas and competencies for students aged 6 to 12. Early Childhood Education addresses overall development and learning for children aged 0 to 6. Each degree program prepares students for a specific educational stage and specific teaching competencies.

What specializations are available in elementary education?

We offer specializations in Therapeutic Pedagogy, Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, Foreign Language (English), Physical Education, and Music Education. You can tailor part of your degree toward one of these areas by taking the corresponding courses, depending on the academic program offerings.

Can you learn how to teach math and science in elementary school?

Yes. You will take Mathematics and its Pedagogy I and II, as well as Experimental Sciences and its Pedagogy. You will learn to relate the course content to activities, explanations, and resources that help children understand and apply it.

What instruction in reading, writing, and literature does elementary school offer?

Our program includes Reading and Writing Instruction, Language, Literature and Teaching Methods, and Literature and Values Education. You will learn how to support reading comprehension and written expression and how to incorporate literary texts into your teaching.

Is educational inclusion and addressing different learning needs studied?

Yes. You will take courses in Education and Support for Diversity and Planning Educational Interventions for Students with Special Needs. You will learn to analyze barriers and develop support strategies and activities that promote participation and learning in the classroom.

Yes. In "Teaching Methodologies, Innovation, and Educational Research," you will explore the relationship between lesson planning and different ways of learning. You will learn how to select and evaluate teaching approaches based on classroom objectives and needs.

Yes. Our plan includes Social Interaction and Development, Academic Guidance, and Family Support and Assistance. You will address the relationship between the classroom, the educational community, and families to foster an environment of learning and participation.

What is the difference between the specializations in Therapeutic Pedagogy and Hearing and Language?

Therapeutic Pedagogy explores educational supports for various learning needs. Audiology and Language focuses on communication, language, and related difficulties. Both are part of our specialization offerings and provide expertise within the field of education.

What are school internships like in elementary education?

Our program includes Practicum I and II. You may complete supervised placements at elementary schools, subject to agreements and the availability of placements, to observe classroom dynamics, participate in teaching activities, and apply your pedagogical training.
