INTERMUNICIPAL TOURNAMENT
OF SCHOOL DEBATE
17-19 April 2026

RECORD PARTICIPATION IN THE 13TH EDITION OF TIDE
Record number of registrations. A total of 65 schools will participate in the XIII edition of TIDE.
More than 300 students from 4th of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) and 1st of non-compulsory pre-university secondary education (Bachillerato) will participate in the new edition of TIDE. A total of 65 public, private and subsidized schools from all over the Community of Madrid will meet at our campus on April 17.
Until then, students and teachers will participate in a series of events proposed to facilitate training: from a visit to the campus to learn first-hand about the debate format from university students, to municipal training sessions where they will analyze the question and the preparation phases together, to voting on the question. The last week of January they will vote on the topic to be debated on this occasion.
SPONSORS
This year for the second consecutive edition, the National Pre-University Debate Championship bets on our tournament as the selection center of the Community of Madrid. This means that the team that wins the TIDE will represent Madrid in the National Championship to be held in June.
On the other hand, the Osservatory for Independent Thinking, bets again on us for the work and training in the field of communication skills, argumentation and logic. This observatory, present in most European countries, provides us with a tool (Doubt and Debate) free of charge, which seeks to work on the digital, media and social literacy of students.
Every week, reports, press summaries of the main European newspapers are updated and work is done with different approaches so that students learn to have different perspectives.
In addition to the application, the Observatory awards four scholarships to the most outstanding students to attend the event they are organizing with other European students in Florence, between April and May.
