UFV EVALUATION

WHAT IS EVALUATION FOR THE UFV?

The Universidad Francisco de Vitoria understands evaluation as one of the main sources of information to take the pulse of university performance. Through a continuous process of systematic collection of information from the different stakeholders and its subsequent analysis, we obtain a more real knowledge of the performance of the fundamental activities of the University, which allows us to make decisions that make the UFV better.

Among the main indicators to measure the performance of the different processes developed in and by the university is that of the perception of the different stakeholders, so it is necessary to collect the opinion of students and the university community on multiple aspects such as teaching, the implementation of degrees, the services provided by the institution.

Thanks to this culture of university evaluation, the improvement of university teaching, the search for quality in processes, teaching improvement and academic excellence are promoted.

SURVEYS

The surveys have become a crucial instrument for gathering valuable information about the experience of students, teachers and other stakeholders in the academic environment. They also serve for the detection of strengths and areas for improvement of the objects of evaluation. Their design is a critical step in collecting meaningful and reliable data.

The survey management process is part of the university’s Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) and is certified in accordance with the ISO 9001:2015 quality standard, which guarantees its quality.

We can affirm that the evaluation system is a powerful and consolidated tool in the university. The culture of evaluation is widespread among the members of the university community as a positive element for the improvement of the institution.

The Department of Institutional Quality and Evaluation is in charge of carrying out a process that is structured around the stakeholders, the annual timing, questionnaires, data analysis and the issuing of reports, thus guaranteeing that the different areas and aspects of the university are evaluated.

MEASURING INSTRUMENTS

The surveys are composed of a variable number of items. The use of a Likert-type scale from 1 to 6 is common to all of them. The use of this scale avoids the tendency to the mean in the evaluation given by the respondent.

On the other hand, the surveys include open-ended questions, where strong points, areas for improvement and any other type of comment that the respondent may wish to make on the aspect about which he/she is being asked are indicated. Thanks to this type of questions, the data analysis is facilitated, the understanding of the numerical data is facilitated and leads to the contextualization of the opinion given in the surveys. The survey items are adapted according to the type of training provided, whether face-to-face, blended or online.

INFORMATION ANALYSIS

The information collected is analyzed in two ways, taking into account the type of information collected:

A. Quantitative information: A descriptive analysis is carried out, calculating measures of central tendency (mean, mode and median) and measures of dispersion (standard deviation). In addition, frequency distribution tables are presented to facilitate data interpretation.

REPORTING:

All subjects with 5 or more participants are reported.
All subjects with 1 participant are not reported.
All subjects with 2, 3 or 4 participants are reported as long as the participation rate, based on the number of students attending class, is equal to or higher than 20%.

B. Qualitative information: The information collected is transcribed and read and then summarized.

Faculty Evaluation

Teaching evaluation is an essential tool at UFV to recognize and improve the work of faculty. It goes beyond a simple questionnaire: it is a process that invites reflection, fosters professional development and contributes to the continuous improvement of educational quality.

This process values all the tasks performed by the faculty and is integrated naturally into academic life. It involves the entire university community and allows for a better understanding of the educational reality in order to guide concrete actions that promote the growth of the university.

Evaluation requires careful planning. It includes several stages: from gathering information, defining objectives, and selecting measurement tools, to making decisions based on the results. All of this is carried out systematically, in order to ensure a rigorous and transparent process.

In short, teacher evaluation is an opportunity for each teacher to reflect on their practice, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and advance in their professional development, with a direct impact on the quality of the education we offer.

WHO, HOW AND WHEN?

who and how?

At Universidad Francisco de Vitoria, evaluation is a process in which we all participate. Although each survey is aimed at a specific group, the entire UFV community, as well as external companies and collaborators, are part of this commitment to continuous improvement.

To facilitate this process, we use the online tool E-qualis, which allows us to answer surveys from any device. Its implementation in most of our surveys has been a great technological step forward: it makes the process more agile and reinforces our commitment to care for the environment.

The use of this tool has led to

  1. Improvement in internal processes (reduction of errors, use of paper, time in procedures, agility in the processing of qualitative information, etc.).
  2. Improvement in the agility of reporting to facilitate decision making (Rector, Vice Rectors, Directors, Professors, external agencies, etc.).
  3. Improvement in the extraction of indicators. Facilitates the task of analyzing the status of the university degree.
  4. Transparency, greater ease for stakeholders in the informative feedback and decision making.
  5. Digital transformation.
  6. Have control of their evaluations (validation of their evaluations, sending of incidents and carrying them out)

HOW ARE SURVEYS MANAGED?

Processes

who are the surveys aimed at?

The surveys are designed for different interest groups, selected according to our Quality Policy and the Internal Quality Assurance System (SGIC). They also take into account the needs detected by the academic managers in order to continue improving.

when are they conducted?

Surveys are carried out at key moments of the course, depending on the type of evaluation and the objectives set.

how are they managed?

  • Surveys are activated online and participants are notified.
  • They remain open for a certain period of time.
  • If necessary, automatic reminders are sent to .
  • The entire process is monitored in real time by the Quality and Institutional Assessment team.

.

what is done with the responses?

Once the survey is completed:

  • The quality team analyzes all the data (quantitative and qualitative).
  • detailed reports are created with key information for continuous improvement

where are the results shared?

Once the survey has been completed:

  • The reports are shared in the university’s internal collaborative environments .
  • They are sent to those responsible for university degree programs and management teams for decision-making.
