WHAT IT PREPARES YOU FOR

COMPETENCIES TO BE ACQUIRED BY THE STUDENT:

In general terms, a PhD candidate in Humanities:

  • Will study the importance that the Humanities have had and have in the configuration, development and identity of Western Civilization.
  • Will delve into the fundamental issues that characterize the human being in the world as a key to both the wisdom of the Humanities, as well as its educational and civilizing character.

And derived from this, by studying this Program the PhD student will acquire a series of competences that will allow him/her to develop intellectually and professionally in the following competences:

Some of them are basic:

– Will systematically understand the broad field of the humanities and master the skills and methods of research related to this field.

– Will be able to conceive, design or create, implement and adopt a substantial research or creative process.

-Will be able to contribute to the expansion of the frontiers of knowledge through original research

-Will be able to perform critical analysis and evaluation and synthesis of new and complex ideas. CB15 – Ability to communicate with the academic and scientific community and with society in general about their fields of knowledge in the modes and languages commonly used in their international scientific community.

– Will be able to promote, in academic and professional contexts, scientific, technological, social, artistic or cultural progress within a knowledge-based society.

The PhD student will also be prepared in some personal skills and abilities:

-To develop in contexts where there is little specific information. -They will be able to find the key questions to be answered in order to solve a complex problem.

-Design, create, develop and undertake novel and innovative projects in their field of knowledge.

-Will be able to work both in teams and autonomously in an international or multidisciplinary context.

-Will be able to integrate knowledge, to face the challenges of a complex problem.

-Will be able to integrate knowledge, face complexity and formulate judgments with limited information.

– Be capable of critically analyzing and intellectually defending solutions.

In short, the doctoral student in this program will be prepared to critically analyze problems in the humanities and solve them from an integrated vision of the human being. And this will also enable them to develop research on Western civilization and apply their results to current contexts
