Game designer: designs all aspects of a game, from its mechanics to its story. They may specialize in areas such as level design, narrative design, or gameplay design.
Technical artist: This is one of the most current and in-demand roles in the industry. A technical artist has expertise in programming and game engines, which allows them to implement their work directly into the video game without having to rely on other departments.
Programmer: Responsible for creating the game's logic and algorithms, and programming mechanics and tools for the team.
2D Artist: Creates illustrations and animations for the game, specializing in characters, environments, and objects, as well as interfaces and promotional materials.
Data analyst: Uses metrics and data analysis to make decisions about game development and balance.
3D Artist: Models 3D elements and applies textures, specializing in characters, environments, or objects.
3D Animator: This professional is responsible for adding animations to the 3D models created by artists. Before animations can be created, the models must be “rigged”—that is, virtual bones must be added so that they move naturally when the animations are applied. This task is so extensive that some professionals specialize exclusively in “rigging.”
QA Tester: responsible for testing the game and detecting and reporting any bugs.
Concept artist: creates the first conceptual images for the game, transforming ideas into illustrations. Later, those illustrations are reproduced in higher quality or in 3D for the final product.
