JAVIER CERVERA

PhD in Contemporary History and PhD in Information Sciences (both UCM). FPI fellow of the CAM (1992-1996) and postdoctoral fellow at the Université PARIS-SORBONE (1997-1998).

Full Professor of History at the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria. Accreditations: Three Sexenios of research and DOCENTIA (qualification B). Principal Investigator (PI) of Project HAR2015-70256-P within the State Plan for Scientific Research.

Director of several PhD theses. Research stays abroad in Paris, at the Cañada Blanch Centre for Contemporary Spanish Studies of the LSE, in London with Paul Preston.

Member of the scientific committee of journals and publishing houses in the area of Contemporary History. Five books published on the subject of the Spanish Civil War and one on the Spanish exile in France.

Author of numerous articles and papers in conferences on the History of Spain in the 20th century, History of Communication and the social impact of cinema.

  • The Academic Committee meets monthly and as many times as called by the Coordinator of the PhD Program depending on the topics that require its assessment. The topics discussed at these meetings are recorded in minutes which contain the decisions taken.

In addition to the coordinator, other members of the academic committee of the PhD program are:

  • Alfredo Alvar Ezquerra: PhD in Modern History from the UCM. Research Professor at the CSIC, at its Institute of History in Madrid. Corresponding member of the Royal Academy of History and corresponding member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Telmo (Málaga). Decorated with the Encomienda de Isabel la Católica (2015) and Premio Villa de Madrid “Ortega y Gasset de Ensayo y Humanidades” (1988). Five six-year research fellowships. Author of more than thirty books and more than a hundred scientific articles. His main lines of research, most of it in the Modern Age of Spain: the reign of Philip II; theories of functionality, structuring, hierarchization and modes of culturization of society and power; the “court” studies, and arbitrism, historiography and official chroniclers and biographical studies of characters of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, linked to the Monarchy of Spain. Innovative in methodology in the latest lines of work of the “Digital humanities”: coordination of web pages, design of “classic” exhibitions to be managed from the Internet or work materials and presentations. Director of a Research Group at CSIC, “Humanism and the Golden Age: a social history”. Member of the Board of Trustees and Member of the Permanent Commission of the General Archive of Simancas. PI of R+D+i projects of the Spanish National R+D+i Plan. Coordinator of lecture series at the Real Sociedad Económica Matritense de Amigos del País, former president of the Instituto de Estudios Madrileños, or director of national or international congresses at the CSIC or in collaboration with other institutions. Advisor in television series such as “Isabel” or “El mundo de Carlos” of RTVE (2016-2017). Scientific coordinator of several projects of the Google Cultural Institute on Cervantes.

  • José Manuel García Ramos: PhD in Philosophy and C.C. of Education from the Complutense University of Madrid. He obtained the Extraordinary Award in Doctorate. Official Master’s Degree in Humanities, Universidad Francisco de Vitoria (2005). University Professor in the Department of Research Methods and Educational Evaluation at the Complutense University of Madrid. Five six-year research periods, seven five-year teaching periods. Twice awarded the National Prize for Educational Research in 1986 and 1996, by the Ministry of Education and Science. He has published 8 books and more than 90 articles in Spanish and foreign education journals since 1980. More than 30 doctoral theses supervised. Main lines of research: Social Responsibility of the University Student; Design and Evaluation of Educational Programs in the University; Evaluation of Transversal Competences in the university, and Design and Validation of Measurement Instruments in Education.

  • Clemente López González: Doctor in Philosophy and Letters, Modern and Contemporary History Section, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Vice Rector of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the UFV, and Director of the University Degree in Humanities. Two sexenios of research recognized. He has directed PhD theses at the UFV. Three main lines of research: Institutional and economic history of the military orders in the Modern Age; preaching and economic culture in the Spain of the XVI and XVII centuries, and protonationalism and foundations of the Modern State. Member of the Editorial Board of academic journals, member of the governing boards of the Foro Hispanoamericano of the UFV, the Instituto de Investigaciones Económicas y Sociales “Francisco de Vitoria” and the Robert Schuman Institute of European Studies at the UFV.

  • Consuelo Martínez Moraga: PhD in Hispanic Philology, and a degree in Hispanic Philology (UCM) and Law (UNED). University Master’s Degree in Humanities (UFV). One six-year research period and three positive evaluations in DOCENTIA. Two doctoral theses supervised and numerous End-of-Degree Project and End-of-Master’s-Degree Project. She has published three books one of them as co-author and more than 20 scientific articles and book chapters. Between 2015 and 2019 director of the publishing house of the UFV. PI in two teaching innovation projects. Member of several scientific committees of journals, exhibition curator and editor of catalogs of the work of visual artists. Author of manuals and didactic material for the subject Language and Literature. Member of the UAM Research Group “Comunicación, Poética y Retórica C[PyR]” (IP Tomás Albaladejo) and of the UFV GEI “Usos formativos e identidad narrativa de los videojuegos” (IP Belén Mainer), as well as collaborator in several research projects.

  • María del Carmen de la Calle Maldonado de Guevara: PhD in Educational Sciences (UCM) and BA in Geography and History, Cultural Anthropology Section (UCM). Master in Philosophy (UFV). One six-year research period and one DOCENTIA section recognized with an A (excellent) rating. PhD thesis supervised and numerous TFM. She has published a book and more than 30 scientific articles and book chapters. Researcher in four research projects and coordinator in another two. Member of several scientific committees, editorial committees and external evaluator of several scientific journals in the area of education. Member of two research groups of the UFV “GEI Accompaniment and Experiential Methodology” and “Social Responsibility of the University Student (RSEU)”, as PI in both cases. Several research stays abroad invited by universities in Mexico, Argentina, Portugal and Equatorial Guinea.
