ACCESS AND ADMISSION
ACCESS REQUIREMENTS:
- In general, for access to an official PhD program it will be necessary to hold an official Spanish University Degree, or equivalent, and a University Master’s Degree.
- In addition, those who are in any of the following cases may access:
- a) Holding an official Spanish university degree or equivalent Spanish university degree, provided that they have passed at least 300 ECTS credits in the whole of these courses and accredit a level 3 of the Spanish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education.
- b) To be in possession of a degree obtained under foreign educational systems belonging to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), without the need for its homologation, which accredits a level 7 of the European Qualifications Framework, provided that such degree entitles access to doctoral studies in the country of issue of the same. This admission will not imply, in any case, the homologation of the previous degree held by the interested party or its recognition for purposes other than access to PhD studies.
- c) Holding a university degree obtained under foreign educational systems outside the EHEA, without the need for its homologation, after verification by the university that it accredits a level of training equivalent to that of the official Spanish University Master’s Degree and that it qualifies in the country of issue for access to PhD studies. This admission will not imply, in any case, the homologation of the previous university degree held by the interested party nor its recognition for purposes other than access to doctoral studies.
- d) Holding another PhD.
- e) University graduates who, after obtaining a place in training in the corresponding entrance exam for specialized health training places, have passed with positive evaluation at least two years of training in a program for obtaining the official degree in any of the specialties in Health Sciences, may also be admitted.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS OF THE PhD PROGRAM IN HEALTH AND SPORT SCIENCES:
The admission of applicants to the doctoral program will be made through the Academic Committee of the doctoral program, which sets the requirements and merit assessment criteria for the selection and admission of students.
The recommended profile for admission to this PhD program is that of a graduate who accredits a MECES 3 or MEC 7 level and who has completed at least 300 ECTS in the sum of all his or her studies in any higher education institution of the EHEA or in a third country (provided that they allow access to doctoral studies in the country of issue), which must necessarily correspond to:
- Official university degrees related to Health and Sports Sciences (Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, Physiotherapy, Nutrition and Dietetics and Nursing).
The Academic Committee of the Program may require, to those students who do not accredit having taken research credits in their training prior to the PhD, the completion of certain training complements to acquire the necessary skills to successfully develop the PhD Program in Health and Sport Sciences. These specific training complements must be passed in the initial period of development of the thesis, within a maximum period of one academic year and are:
Research Methodology in Health and Sport Sciences (6ECTS)
Research Techniques in Health and Sport Sciences (6ECTS)
Admission will be valid only for the academic year for which it is requested and will take effect with the formalization of the academic supervision registration.
The Academic Committee will evaluate the applications based on the following criteria:
- Academic Qualifications: 10%.
- Academic Record: 25%.
- Motivation letter: 15%.
- Relevant experience and skills: 10%.
- Suitability of the research proposal: 15%.
- Academic recommendations: 5%.
- Personal interview: 20%
