About Us?
Magda B. Arnold
(1903- 2002)
Magda Arnold was a highly regarded psychology researcher and theorist, particularly known for developing theories of emotions and personality. Her contributions to the field of psychology, particularly her work in developing a Christian anthropological approach, have been an inspiration to us and have influenced our decision to select her as a reference for our club.
The society was established by a group of psychology students at UFV who identified a need for a forum to address various professional and Catholic identity-related issues.
The club was established as a student society during the 2019-2020 academic year. It is coordinated by Professor Ruth de Jesús, who teaches in the degree program, and P. Rafael Pou L.C., who serves as the university chaplain.
The Magda Arnold Student Society was established in response to concerns raised by students pursuing a degree in Psychology. These concerns pertain to the integration of Catholic faith with the academic content being taught in the classroom.
Our objective is to equip students and professionals in psychology with the resources they require to pursue their academic development in a supportive community that fosters reflection and receptivity to new ideas.
Hence our motto: “In science and in faith”.
