VICE-CHANCELLOR’S OFFICE FOR INTERNATIONALIZATION
BIPs – BLENDED INTENSIVE PROGRAMS
What are they?
- Being short and intensive programmes that use innovative ways of learning and teaching, including the use of online cooperation.
- Providing an added value compared to existing programmes or courses.
- Encourage transdisciplinary teaching and training.
- Combine a short-term physical component and a mandatory virtual component that can take place before or after the physical mobility.
- Offer an opportunity for international mobility to people who for whatever reason cannot afford to undertake a long-term physical mobility
Who organizes it?
They are organized by a consortium of at least 3 Higher Education Institutions ECHE charter holders from 3 countries of the Erasmus+ program. One of them will be the coordinating and/or hosting entity, where the face-to-face component of the program takes place, and the rest will be sending partner entities. Non-partner countries may participate, although without funding, and do not count towards the minimum number of higher education institutions. For the purposes of this call, the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria will act as sending partner, being the sending entity.
Who can participate?
The participants of a BIP can be:
- Participants whose purpose is to learn or train:
- Higher Education students (University Degree, Master or PhD)
- Teaching or non-teaching staff
- Staff involved in the execution of the program:
- Teaching or non-teaching staff of the host entity
- Teaching or non-teaching staff of the sending entity
- Invited trainers from companies, associations, research organizations or others
How long do they last?
The physical component can last from 5 to 30 days; however, a maximum of 5 days of face-to-face stay and a maximum of 2 days of travel will be financed with Erasmus+ funds. The virtual component does not establish a minimum or maximum duration, as long as they meet the minimum hours required to obtain the 3 ECTS, i.e. an approximate equivalent of 75h between virtual, face-to-face training and individual preparation.
Interinstitutional and learning agreements
The BIP promoter should check with the ORI if there is an Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreement that includes the combined mobility. If there is not, the partners must sign it, and in case of disagreement, a specific agreement will be signed for the BIP. In addition, each participant must process the required documentation for Erasmus+ mobilities.
ECTS Recognition
The UFV will recognize participation in a BIP by awarding 3 ECTS through the subject Complementary Formative Activities (AFC).
Language
By default, the language of a BIP will be English. The partners may agree on a different language that is widely used, provided that communication in that language is feasible among all participants.
