Francisco de Vitoria University (UFV) has launched the Institute of Neuroscience and Applied Social Psychology (https://www.ufv.es/), a new center within the School of Education and Psychology (SINAPSICO) established with the goal of translating research in neuroscience and psychology into social intervention.
The institute, led by Román Darío Moreno Fernández, aims to generate rigorous knowledge about the biological and psychological mechanisms of human behavior from a multidisciplinary perspective, with a clear commitment to serving society. “Its goal is to connect knowledge from basic sciences such as biology and neuroscience with social realities,” explained the director during the launch event.
In this vein, María Lacalle, Vice Provost for Faculty and Educational Models, highlighted the track record of the School of Education and Psychology as the foundation for this new project: “They excel at combining academic excellence, a commitment to research, and a clear focus on knowledge transfer and service to society.”
A holistic approach to the individual
SINAPSICO is based on an anthropological approach that views the individual as a bio-psycho-social and spiritual being. From this perspective, the Institute for Neuroscience and Applied Social Psychology will focus on research, teaching, and outreach, with a special emphasis on the practical application of knowledge in real-world contexts.
