  • QUALIFICATION:  Upon successful completion of the PhD, you will obtain the PhD in Health Sciences and Sport awarded by the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria.
  • FACULTY/SCHOOL: International PhD School of the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria.
  • IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE: The PhD in Health and Sport Sciences was implemented in the academic year 2025/26, according to RD 576/2023.

  • DURATION: The duration of PhD studies will be a maximum of four years full time, counting from the date of enrollment of the PhD student in the program until the date of deposit of the doctoral thesis. However, with the prior authorization of the academic committee responsible for the program, PhD studies may be carried out on a part-time basis. In this case, such studies may have a maximum duration of seven years from the date of enrollment in the program until the date of deposit of the doctoral thesis.when the doctoral candidate is a person with a university degree of disability equal to or greater than 33 percent, the duration of the doctoral studies will be a maximum of six years full-time and nine years part-time. Before the end of the periods mentioned in the previous sections, if the application for the deposit of the thesis has not been submitted, the Academic Committee responsible for the program, at the request of the PhD candidate, may authorize the extension of this period for one more year, under the conditions established in the corresponding PhD program. Situations of temporary incapacity, birth, adoption, foster care, risk during pregnancy, risk during breastfeeding and gender violence or any other situation contemplated in the regulations in force during the period of time mentioned above will interrupt the computation of the time limit for the duration of the doctoral studies. The doctoral student may request periods of temporary leave from the program up to a total of two years. Such a request must be addressed and justified to the Academic Committee responsible for the program, which will decide whether it is appropriate to grant the doctoral student’s request.
  • METHODOLOGY: The PhD Program is fundamentally a period of research in such a way that its main task is the elaboration of the PhD Thesis. To help the doctoral student in this work, a specific study plan is established for this period, which includes tutorials, seminars, courses, other training activities and stays in other universities, both in Spain and abroad. All this, always under the guidance, orientation and criteria of the Tutor and the Director of the Thesis
