The Francisco de Vitoria University (UFV) and the Spanish State Agency for the Fight Against Doping in Sport (CELAD) have signed a collaboration agreement to strengthen doping prevention in the university setting and to train future professionals who will support athletes in the areas of health, sports science, and psychology.

The agreement, signed on June 19 by José Antonio Verdejo Delgado, secretary general of Francisco de Vitoria University, and Carlos Peralta Gallego, director of CELAD, was published on July 8 in the Official State Gazette. The partnership establishes a stable framework for cooperation to develop educational, scientific, and outreach initiatives that promote clean sports, health protection, and awareness of anti-doping regulations.
This collaboration is aimed specifically at students in programs related to sports and health sciences. These future professionals will play a key role in the prevention of risky behaviors and in providing comprehensive support to athletes throughout their careers.
Specialized Training in Fair Play
The agreement provides for the implementation of training programs for students in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, Medicine, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Physical Therapy, and Psychology.
CELAD will collaborate with the UFV in delivering specialized content on doping prevention, strict liability, and the rights and obligations of athletes and their support staff. The training will also cover the List of Prohibited Substances and Methods, doping control procedures, Therapeutic Use Exemptions, and the risks associated with the use of dietary supplements.
In addition, the curriculum may include content related to the ADAMS whereabouts system and other priority topics defined by the World Anti-Doping Agency. The goal is for students to understand both the regulatory framework and the health, ethical, and professional implications of doping.
The agreement provides for the organization of at least one training activity per year, which may be conducted in person or online. It also provides for the participation of CELAD specialists in conferences, congresses, and other academic events organized by Francisco de Vitoria University.
Research and Knowledge Transfer
The collaboration will extend to the scientific sphere through the joint development of research projects, publications, technical reports, and educational materials related to anti-doping education and the protection of health and integrity in sports.
Francisco de Vitoria University may also serve as a scientific advisory body to CELAD in areas agreed upon by both institutions. This collaboration will make it possible to apply the knowledge generated at the university to initiatives related to doping prevention and the protection of athletes.
The agreement thus strengthens the link between teaching, research, and knowledge transfer, and helps ensure that academic and scientific expertise contributes to addressing some of the major challenges facing competitive and high-performance sports.
A Partnership Dedicated to Health and Integrity in Sports
The agreement will have an initial term of four years and may be extended for another four years, up to a maximum of eight years. It will be implemented using the two institutions’ own resources and will not involve any financial commitments between the parties.
Through this partnership, UFV is strengthening the training of professionals capable of promoting responsible sports practices and integrating health protection, professional ethics, and compliance with regulations into their work.
This collaboration is part of the initiatives launched by CELAD with Spanish universities to bring anti-doping education into the academic sphere and improve the training of those who will support athletes in their professional and personal development.
