Nuria Mendoza Laíz, dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Francisco de Vitoria University (UFV), has joined the General Assembly of the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE) as a member representing Special Olympics Spain.

His appointment strengthens Francisco de Vitoria University’s presence in one of the main institutional forums that drive the initiatives of the Paralympic movement in Spain, alongside sports federations, organizations working with people with disabilities, and representatives from various social and institutional sectors.
“Having Nuria Mendoza Laíz on the General Assembly of the Spanish Paralympic Committee means adding a voice with a solid track record in the academic sphere, physical activity, and inclusive sports. Her experience will help us continue to make progress toward one of the major goals of the Paralympic movement: promoting sports that are more accessible, inclusive, and committed to equal opportunities for people with disabilities,” said Miguel Sagarra, secretary general of the Spanish Paralympic Committee.
A Career Dedicated to Inclusive Sports
Mendoza Laíz’s appointment to the CPE General Assembly recognizes an academic and professional career closely linked to research, teaching, and the promotion of sports as a tool for health, inclusion, and holistic development.
Through the UFV School of Health Sciences, he has promoted a vision of physical activity and sports that is person-centered and linked to equal opportunity, participation, and commitment to society.
Among the notable projects in which she has participated, her work as coordinator of the White Paper on Sports for People with Disabilities in Spain stands out; this publication was sponsored by the Spanish Paralympic Committee, the Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities, and the ONCE Foundation.
The document analyzes the current state of sports for people with disabilities in Spain and proposes courses of action aimed at promoting access, participation, and the development of sports.
“From the university, we can contribute knowledge, research, and training to move toward a model in which physical activity and sports are spaces for equality, dignity, and holistic development,” says Nuria Mendoza Laíz.
University Knowledge in the Service of a More Diverse Society
For Francisco de Vitoria University, Mendoza Laíz’s participation in the General Assembly of the Spanish Paralympic Committee represents an opportunity to continue contributing knowledge, academic expertise, and research capabilities to address the challenges associated with inclusive sports.
This involvement also helps strengthen the connection between the university and the community and opens up new opportunities for collaboration in areas such as education, research, adapted physical activity, and the promotion of more accessible sports.
Through its educational mission, UFV promotes a holistic education that places the individual at the center and views health, sports, and service to society as essential areas for contributing to the common good.
The appointment of Nuria Mendoza Laíz to this institutional body reinforces the University’s commitment to developing initiatives capable of generating a positive impact through sports and moving toward a more inclusive, participatory society committed to the dignity of every person.
