Francisco de Vitoria University has appointed Ana María del Valle as the new dean of the School of Communication Sciences, effective April 8.
The president of UFV, Daniel Sada, announced this transition, noting that “this appointment reflects our commitment to continuing to advance the Faculty’s academic mission, consolidating its identity, and strengthening its contribution to the University’s mission.” In this context, he has asked the university community to support this transition “with warmth and collaboration, so that he may fulfill this responsibility in the service of our students, the faculty, and the institution as a whole.”
Ana María del Valle is an alumna of Francisco de Vitoria University and has a strong academic background: she holds a bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Communication, has completed the Master’s in Humanities at UFV and the Master’s in Educational Guidance at UFV, and holds a Ph.D. in Humanities from Francisco de Vitoria University.
She joined UFV in 2004, where she has built a progressive and well-established career within the School. She began her work as a mentor and coordinator of student affairs, later serving as associate dean for faculty development and director of the Bachelor's Degree Fiction and Narrative, and now takes on this new role with a spirit of service and commitment.
In the words of the new dean, the challenge she faces in this new phase is “to safeguard the precious legacy we received from Paula Puceiro and to look toward the future through the lens of communication—from the deeply human to the creative transformation of society.”
A School Dedicated to Training Communicators Capable of Transforming Society
Regarding her greatest contribution in her new role, Ana María del Valle has stated: “To graduate students who create stories that help us understand one another and produce artistic, audiovisual, literary, and other works that make the human experience better and more livable; to have teachers who believe that the world is changed from within the classroom; and to respond to the opportunities presented by AI through collaboration and creativity.”
Her connection to the University is also deeply intertwined with her own personal and academic history. “UFV is a mission field. I fell in love with it in 2000 when I arrived as a student, and today I still see its enormous potential to touch the hearts of many people,” she said.
Regarding the commitments he has undertaken as head of the Faculty, he summarized his purpose as follows: “To safeguard, protect, breathe new life into, position, highlight, and support… faculty and students in the serious, enlightening, and honest work of learning.”
Creativity, well-rounded education, and campus life
Among the aspects of the project she will lead in this new phase, the new dean of the UFV School of Communication Sciences has chosen to highlight creativity as one of the key pillars of the educational program: “I would love to explore and build upon the theme of creativity as a central concept in our educational offerings. To demonstrate our commitment, dedication, and care for a well-rounded education through the faculty’s many student societies.”
For his part, Daniel Sada expressed his heartfelt gratitude for Paula Puceiro’s dedication during her years at the helm of the School: “I would like to extend a very special thank you to Paula Puceiro for these years, for her dedication and generosity. Her contribution leaves a very valuable legacy upon which we will continue to build.”
With this appointment, Francisco de Vitoria University is embarking on a new chapter in its School of Communication Sciences, with a view to further strengthening its academic mission, its identity, and its ability to train professionals who are called upon to contribute, through communication, to a more humane society.
