Introduction

The Francisco de Vitoria University (UFV) held the second edition of the Christmas Colloquium for the Dual Master's Degree Program in Access to the Practice of Law and Legal Representation and Continuing Education in Legal Consulting, bringing together students, faculty, and professionals from the legal sector.

The event brought together faculty members, students, directors, and coordinators of the master’s program, along with representatives from Spain’s leading “big law” firms. The conference was designed to enhance the comprehensive training of legal professionals and strengthen the connection between academia and the legal profession.

A Commitment to Legal Thinking Rooted in Humanism

The dean of the School of Law, Business, and Government, Javier de Cendra, opened the event with remarks in which he emphasized the importance of such forums for the academic and personal development of legal professionals. He highlighted the need to integrate philosophical reflection into legal education.

The symposium was chaired by Ángel Barahona and Father Xavi Gutiérrez, L.C., who offered a philosophical and theological interpretation of the meaning of Christmas. Both speakers linked this holiday to the cultural foundations of Western law, highlighting its influence on principles such as human dignity, justice, and the common good.
