Francisco de Vitoria University (UFV) held the formal graduation ceremonies for more than 5,000 undergraduate, graduate, and advanced vocational students from its various faculties and schools at its Madrid campus. The ceremonies highlighted the role of the individual in a world shaped by artificial intelligence.

Over the course of several days, students, professors, mentors, deans, and families have participated in events that have prompted reflection on the meaning of a university education, professional responsibility, and the need to make decisions with a human touch.

Artificial Intelligence and the Challenge of Making Sound Decisions

The university president, Daniel Sada Castaño, centered his graduation address on the impact of artificial intelligence and its ethical implications, noting that this graduating class is facing an unprecedented turning point.

“Artificial intelligence is no longer just a promise for the future: it’s already part of your daily life and your work as of today.”

The president emphasized that the real challenge is not technological, but human:

“Technology can heal, connect, or educate, but the big question is: What are we building?”

Throughout the events, he emphasized the irreplaceable role of people in the face of technology:

“Let the data show you what’s possible, but let you be the ones to decide what’s fair”

“Artificial intelligence can process results, but it cannot hold a hand or be there for a person in their vulnerability”

And in the field of education, he emphasized the human factor:

“There is one thing these AI systems cannot do: genuine presence—not mere availability—time spent without a specific goal, and the ability to believe in someone before that person believes in themselves.”

As it does every year, UFV presented the Optimus Awards, which recognize students who have distinguished themselves through their academic excellence, humanistic education, personal commitment, and professional potential.

The UFV School of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education graduated 2,886 students, reaffirming its role in training professionals with discernment.

The sponsor, Narciso Michavila Núñez, president of GAD3, stated:

More than 300 students from the Francisco de Vitoria Advanced Vocational Training Center celebrated their graduation on May 27.

Emma Sofía Sidera Grillón, a student in the Multiplatform Application Development program and winner of the 2026 Optimus Award, stated:

"Beyond grades, these years have taught us to adapt, work with others, and understand that making mistakes is part of the learning process."

He highlighted the practical nature of this training:

"Here, we haven't just learned theory; we've also learned to **deal with real-life situations, take on responsibilities, and make decisions."
