Higher Polytechnic School

The Polytechnic School’s priority research areas are framed within an interdisciplinary framework encompassing its various fields of knowledge, with the aim of fostering an integrated approach. The main themes are: AI and Applications, Sustainable Transportation, Energy and Sustainability, Advanced Materials, Robotics, Accessibility, Engineering and Women (TIC), Social Engineering, Smart Heritage, Urban Strategies, Smart Cities, and the Circular Economy.

The Higher Polytechnic School is committed to interdisciplinary research, supported by strong partnerships with other faculties and institutions, both within and outside UFV, as well as nationally and internationally. Research is an integral part of the academic community, naturally woven into the daily lives of faculty and students. Research is conducted within research communities and groups focused on areas of strategic interest aligned with the mission of the EPS and UFV.

The Higher Polytechnic School has strong partnerships with leading companies in the sector; we have various industry-academic partnerships and agreements with all of them. Students will have the opportunity to engage with these companies from day one through events and activities offered as part of their degree programs. Many of these companies offer students the chance to gain their first work experience.

The Higher Polytechnic School is actively involved in various international activities. Faculty and staff maintain ongoing collaborations with foreign institutions, facilitating physical and virtual exchanges of faculty, researchers, students, and staff in both directions (incoming y outgoing). The courses in the various degree programs incorporate an international perspective, and the school participates in international forums.

The EPS faculty community supports and encourages each individual to personally embody the spirit and mission of UFV, fostering genuine opportunities for connection. It is composed of faculty members with a high standard of teaching quality, including professors with extensive academic experience who are involved in research initiatives and projects across various fields, as well as professional experts who combine their work in the business world with their teaching vocation. A culture of learning and continuous improvement is fostered within the community.
