Would you like to discover all the secrets behind an opera? UFV offers you the opportunity to experience it at the Teatro Real in Madrid, one of the most iconic venues in Spain and Europe. Through guided tours, activities, and attendance at a preview performance, you’ll experience opera from the inside and appreciate the art form like never before.
Each year, the Teatro Real offers us the opportunity to gain deeper insight into the workings of an opera, from its initial conception to the actual performance. This year, students will study Giuseppe Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra (1857).
Giuseppe Verdi was an Italian Romantic composer and one of the most important opera composers of all time. Among his best-known works are La traviata (1853), Rigoletto (1851), and Aida (1871). Simon Boccanegra tells the story of a commoner-turned-privateer who rises to power as the city’s ruler amid political tensions, love, and revenge.
