UFV-Johnson & Johnson Course on Microsurgery and Ophthalmic Surgery at Francisco de Vitoria University

In the 2018–2019 academic year, the first comprehensive programme continuing education programme in microsurgery and ophthalmic surgery using animal models and simulation techniques was launched, led by Dr. Jose Luis Urcelay. The program consisted of 12 courses for R1 to R4 ophthalmology residents, covering topics ranging from an introduction to microsurgery and basic ophthalmic surgery to phacoemulsification, corneal suturing, vitreoretinal surgery, and complex cataract surgery. The courses were supported by a panel of speakers of exceptional scientific and pedagogical caliber, with the participation of 188 Ophthalmology residents from all over Spain and Portugal.

The sixth edition of the University Course on Microsurgery and Ophthalmic Surgery (modelo animal y técnicas se simulación) is being held in 2023. This programme in 2018 and now boasts six years of experience, more than 50 courses, and over 500 trained students.

This new call for applications is being organized by the UFV Surgical Simulation Center, in collaboration with the Madrid Ophthalmological Society and with sponsorship from Johnson & Johnson VISION.

The program director is Dr. José L. Urcelay Segura, and the coordinators are Carmen Calles Vázquez and Rosario Cobo Soriano. The programme worth 3.5 ECTS credits.

The seventh edition of the University Course on Microsurgery and Ophthalmic Surgery (modelo animal y técnicas se simulación) is being held in 2024. This programme in 2018 and now boasts seven years of experience, more than 50 courses, and over 500 trained students.
