Neuroinflammation is one of the most significant biological processes in the development and progression of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease.
Our group studies the role of the endocannabinoid system, a complex biological system involved in the regulation of multiple functions of the central nervous system and currently considered one of the most promising avenues for the development of neuroprotective strategies.
Using advanced techniques in multiphoton microscopy, molecular biology, and behavioral analysis, we investigate how modulating cannabinoid receptors and enzymes involved in endocannabinoid metabolism may help reduce neuroinflammation and improve brain function.
