Contempla is a space for looking, discovering, thinking, and dialoguing: a place to let yourself be captivated by reality. Contempla is an attitude, a way of inhabiting the world. Contempla is a necessity, a different approach; it is honoring Truth, letting it speak so that we can hear it. Contempla is a society of students who, through philosophy, want to delve into the big issues: art, freedom, transcendence, suffering, the meaning of life, morality, politics. Not in the abstract, but in concrete terms, addressing the main elements of our present time.
What do we do at Contempla?
At Contempla, we carry out various types of activities:
- Philosophical Wines: A bar. A topic. A speaker. A lively group. A wine. A professor introduces the topic and guides the discussion. Then we talk, ask questions, share… and continue thinking together.
- Lectures/testimonials: Classic university lectures that delve deeply into a current issue. Or the testimony of a person who embodies the Truth in their life.
- ContemplArte: An exercise in contemplation. Discovering Beauty, the face of Truth, in art, in nature… Go to a museum, attend an exhibition, go on an excursion, accompanied by someone who elevates the activity to an aesthetic experience.
Why Contempla is for you
Contempla is for me because here I not only listen, but I also participate in the pursuit of knowledge. Contempla is for me because I am a university student, and this is what university is all about. I want to understand the world I live in, I want to stop and think, listen to different points of view, without fear, without the desire to impose, but out of a pure desire for truth. Contempla is for me because it needs me, because with so much noise and speed, we do a lot and think little.
