The Fourteenth Additional Provision of Organic Law 6/2001, of December 21, on Universities, defined the role of the University Ombudsman as the person responsible for safeguarding the rights and freedoms of professors, students, and administrative and service staff in relation to the actions of the various university bodies and services.
According to Article 46 of the University Student Statute and Article 22 of the UFV Organization and Functioning Regulations (sus Estatutos, publicados en el Boletín Oficial de la Comunidad de Madrid, de 29 de septiembre de 2014), the University Ombudsman is a service for university students that will ensure respect for the rights and freedoms of members of the university community in relation to the actions of its various bodies and services. Its actions will always be aimed at improving the quality of the university in all areas.
