Francisco de Vitoria University is moving toward an increasingly sustainable campus by integrating care for our shared home into its educational mission and the daily lives of students, faculty, and staff. This commitment is based on two pillars: active student participation and campus management focused on the ecological transition.

Sustainability is an integral part of the college experience. Students get involved in initiatives that promote responsible habits, sustainable transportation, waste reduction, and a connection with nature, as well as opportunities for dialogue about current environmental challenges. The goal is for every student to incorporate sustainability into their understanding of and engagement with the world.

At the same time, the university is promoting more efficient and environmentally friendly management: energy efficiency improvements, circular waste management, ongoing assessment of our environmental impact, and planning aimed at the ecological transition of our campus.

Research for the Care of Our Common Home

Francisco de Vitoria University views sustainability as a central pillar of its mission and, as such, promotes research that addresses the environmental, social, and economic challenges of our time. Through an interdisciplinary approach, UFV supports projects that explore key areas such as sustainable urban planning, biodiversity and ecosystem protection, clean energy, the circular economy, sustainable mobility, and efficient resource management.

This commitment is carried out through established research groups, academic chairs, specialized centers, and funded projects that integrate scientific knowledge with ethical responsibility toward our common home. The university also promotes the transfer of research findings that have a real-world impact, fostering collaborations with public administrations, businesses, social organizations, and national and international academic networks.

The HUELLA EN INVESTIGACIÓN sustainability research initiative at UFV seeks not only to better understand current environmental challenges, but also to propose rigorous and transformative solutions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, the 2030 Agenda, and the ecological transition.
