Academic Semester Program

Overview

Students will combine a 4-week intensive “Programa de Inmersión Linguística y Cultural” with 12 to 15 weeks university study depending on the semester of study, during which time students will study between 3 and 5 courses from the following:

1. 1 Spanish course

2. 1 Humanities/General Education course

3. 2 courses related to the students major. We offer courses in the following areas

- Fine Arts
- Architecture
- Education
- Biotechnology
- Advertising and PR
- Audiovisual Communication
- Journalism
- Economics and Business Studies
- Marketing
- Law
- Politics and International Relations

4. 1 of the following: Internship assignment, service learning assignment or a 3rd course related to the students major

Internship and service learning assignments are perfect for enhancing student resumé’s and providing students with the opportunity to integrate further into Spanish society. Both the internship and service learning assignments include a tutor system, research project and academic credit. Students must have a minimum intermediate level of Spanish.

In order to ensure that your academic credit will be transferred upon successful completion of your studies at the UFV, you must consult your study abroad advisor prior to departure as to which courses are suitable and they must approve a minimum of 8 courses.

Cultural Activities

Our “Spain Through the Ages” program during the academic semester offers students the opportunity to take part in 4 guided day excursions to:

- Aranjuez
- Toledo
- El Escorial
- Alcalá de Henares

All cultural excursions include transport and entrance fees.

Students are encouraged to take part in all university activities during there time at the UFV. All facilities are available for students to use.

Student Services

Big Brother Program

Upon arrival at the University every Aula Internacional student will be paired with a regularly enrolled UFV student who will be there for them to ensure students get to know true Spanish university life, introduce them to friends and ensure they settle into their new home as comfortably as possible.

Academic Advisor

Every student at the UFV has an Academic Advisor who is there to help students make the most of and understand the true meaning of their studies. If Aula Internacional students encounter any additional problems such as language comprehension, the Academic Advisor will be the first port of call.

Airport Transfer

As part of the program students will be met at Barajas airport on their first day and will be taken to their accommodation.

Cell Phone

If you are interested in having a cell phone during your time in Madrid, please contact us and we will provide you with information about various cell phone service providers who have a wealth of experience working with study abroad students. Cell phones are not included in the price.

Admission Requirements

- Minimum 2.7 GPA
- Equivalent to 2 college semesters of Spanish
- High school graduate aged 18 or over
- Academic grade transcript
- Completed application form
- Photocopy of passport
- Proof of insurance including full accident, medical, liability and repatriation expenses
